This project is mainly focus on the human scale and the problem that people might face when they feel pain because of sciatica. My target user is Kara who have sciatica problem . It is a sick that common nowadays and the pain that come with the sick always affect people daily life. Since time immemorial , people always sitting in several wrong posture which might hurt themselves.Not only the one who need to sit for a long time, but also the one who are young. A wrong posture might lead to a lot of ergonomic and problem. Therefore, the design target in this project is to design a product that can adjust the posture of user into a correct ergonomic posture that might not hurt them-self while it can reduce the pain anywhere.

I aim to enhance the health and reduce the pain of the people who have sciatica. However, according to our research, most of the people did not like to wear a frame that the outlook is so normal and non-designed .So I tend to design a frame that the stylish outlook is available in the market and can protect the back and spine of the user in ergonomic way.

I set the scope that we can solve the problem in 4 months.I decided to improve the design of the existing product to prevent sciatica become more worst and let the user can bring them outdoor as the product outlook will be better.

Match Different
Body Shape
by separate into 2 part

After the physiotherapy that the target user need to do every week, the shape of the back will change . As this design is not a orthotics that aim to reshape the back of the user, it is a orthotics that aim to cure the pain, I tend to separate the orthotics into two part. According to the doctor comment, this design still can support the muscle so it can decrease the pressure that going on the bone. Also , it won’t over support the muscle , so the user will not over rely on this orthotics and the muscle will not become too weak. After using this design, our target user do not need to buy a new orthotic that can real-ease pain after the body shape change. Also there are no similar orthotics in the market.

Ice Gel Pack

This is a an ice gel pack that can bring out door and the user do not need to use their hand to handle it. The user can add more if they want, as different user have different needability, they can change the place as they want. The rope that use to linkage the ice gel pack and the frame are using magent.It is easy to open and close.

2 Different Button

for pressing Acupuncture point that can cure the pain caused by sciatica Long / Short term Button

Changeable Button Material :

Silicone This is a button that use to press the acupuncture point that can press for a short time. It is made by silicone so the user can change easily. It is because some point can only press 3-4 s.

The Automatic Push-Push Button :

This is a button that use to press the acupuncture point that can press for a long time. After the user press one time , the button will press the user acupuncture point until the next press. This button has use the engineer structure that people can find in the ball pen. For the structure detail ,people can find a you-tube video call” push push button” to know more about the structure and how it works.
